Slice of Life Day 3 - Grandmas Snack

Today I popped into an after school Slice of Life blogging group hosted by Cathy Mere. I was excited and curious to see what students were blogging about. Honestly I was looking for a little inspiration for tonight's writing. The students were chattering and eating a snack. Although I did gather many ideas and bits of inspiration, it was the snack that inspired my writing tonight. The snack was Nilla wafers. They remind me of my grandma Jean.

I loved Nilla wafers when I was a child. My grandma always had them in her cupboard when we went to visit. I remember laying on a blanket in her living room, eating Nilla wafers and pretending that I was having a picnic. My grandma always had a snack for us when we would visit. Of all the snacks I loved the Nilla wafers the most. It's amazing how the taste of a food can bring back such vivid memories. This is a happy memory!

  1. These were never my favorite when I was a kid. They must have been cheap or my mom would not have bought them. Flavors do bring us right back to a time of our past.

  2. This made me smile tonight. My grandma always had apple fritters or jello when we visited. It's true though, the smell or taste of them always takes me right back to her kitchen. Thanks for a little trip down memory lane!
